Blackfoot, Idaho is located in Southeastern Idaho between Idaho Falls and Pocatello in Bingham County. It had a population of about 12,400 in 2021. It is known as the “Potato Capital of the World '' for having the largest potato industry in one particular area. Within Blackfoot, you will find the Potato History museum, the largest baked potato, and the largest potato chip. This town is growing, but not at the rapid rate that many other cities are growing. In Blackfoot, you will be able to find all of the things that you need within the city. Schools, food, and activities are easy to find within the town. Even as it grows, it still feels like a family-friendly town that isn't too crowded.

What is There to Do in Blackfoot?

As mentioned above, the Idaho Potato museum is located within Blackfoot, where you can find information on potatoes, a cafe full of potato-based items, the largest potato chip, and interactive items for the younger crowds that come through. Each year Labor Day weekend is kicked off with the start of the Eastern Idaho State fair that is held at the fairgrounds. There you will find 4-H animals, lots of food, performances, concerts, and rodeos. It is a good time that runs for a whole week to ensure that everyone has a chance to come. If crowds aren’t for you, the largest butterfly house in Idaho is just west of Blackfoot and is open seasonally, and it’s called Butterfly Haven.

To get out of the house anytime the weather is good, there is the Blackfoot Greenbelt. This is a 6.5-mile path that goes along the snake river for a scenic view. One of the starting points for the Greenbelt is at Jensen Grove Park which has a skate park, a playground, disc golf, basketball courts, and picnic tables for eating. Toward the north part of the Greenbelt is the Blackfoot Golf Course which is one of the best-rated municipal golf courses.

Spring and Fall are both pleasant with warm temperatures and the sun will feel good on the skin. Proximity to Other Cities

There are a lot of towns that are not too far from the houses for sale in Blackfoot, Idaho. Idaho Falls is about 30 minutes north and Pocatello is about 20 minutes south. There are quite a few fun towns that are within a 3 hours drive such as Island Park, Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, and Salt Lake City. Not to mention there are a ton of outdoor activities that can be enjoyed such as fishing, hiking, hunting, skiing or snowboarding, and mountain biking.
